JEWELLERY CARE

Although Sterling silver is fairly hearty we recommend to avoid direct contact with beauty products such as perfume, hairspray, lotions, body oils and other cosmetics as well as any other harsh chemicals. They may affect the shine of the jewellery. However if you find your jewellery losing its shine it doesn’t take much to bring the shine back to life with a quick polish.

Cleaning:

  1. Gentle Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to wipe off dust and light tarnish regularly.
  2. Mild Soap and Water: For dirtier pieces, use mild soap and warm water. Gently scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry.

Tarnish Prevention:

  1. Storage: Store silver in airtight containers or bags to limit exposure to air.
  2. Anti-Tarnish Strips: Include anti-tarnish strips in storage to absorb moisture and prevent tarnishing.
  3. Avoid Chemicals: Keep silver away from chemicals like perfumes, lotions, and household cleaners, which can cause tarnishing.

Polishing:

  1. Polishing Cloth: Use a specialized silver polishing cloth to gently buff away tarnish.
  2. Polishing Paste: Apply a small amount of silver polishing paste (toothpaste also works) with a soft cloth, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Special Care:

  1. Gemstones: If your silver jewelry has gemstones, clean them separately using methods suitable for each stone.
  2. Delicate Pieces: Be extra gentle with intricate or delicate designs, using a soft brush or cloth to clean hard-to-reach areas.

Professional Care:

  1. Professional Cleaning: Consider professional cleaning for heavily tarnished or intricate pieces.

Additional Tips:

  • Wear Regularly: The natural oils in your skin can help prevent tarnish, so wear your silver pieces often.
